Ferret Deafness Deaf ferrets can't hear another ferret or human say 'ouch', so they can tend to bite too hard. Deafness isn't usually a problem for a ferret, but it may be a problem for you. If you're having problems with a biting ferret, why not look at this site to see how you can easily test its hearing.

White Russian White Russian was a ferret who died of Aleutian Disease on May 8th 2002. Not much is known about Aleutian Disease Virus (ADV) in ferrets, and so White Russian's owner set up this site to bring together the information that is available and to encourage support for the work of the Ferret ADV Research Group at the University of Georgia through the Aleutian Disease Research Fund. Aleutian Disease was first reported as occurring in domestic ferrets in the UK in 1990, but does not as yet appear to be as widespread a problem in the UK as in the United States. In the UK, for instance, only the Wessex Ferret Club insists that all ferrets attending its shows must have a current negative Aleutian certificate.
